Class of 2010 Crest

Loyal 'til
the End

Each year the cadets of the fourth-class at the United States Military Academy
formulae a visual image that symbolizes the values and aspirations that we, as cadets and future Army officers, aspire to attain and inculcate.  The class crest encapsulates the traditions of the Long Gray Line, the Army, and the United States and represents the legacy that the Class of 2010 will uphold.  The unique elements shown in the crest symbolizes our commitment and dedication to our goal of being "LOYAL 'TIL THE END."

The Class of 2010's crest is distinctive compared to all the others.  Unlike other crests, our class year lies in the upper right hand corner in large silver font.  In the center, the initials of the United States Military Academy lie in gold.  When looked at closely, the letter "A" in USMA is the Army "A" signifying our willingness to support this hallowed institution.

In the background, the American Flag, which serves as our nation's symbol, is gracefully waving depicting our loyalty in ensuring that our country's flag remains waving during all times: peace and war.  In front of the flag, the nation's bird, the American eagle, is fiercely flying overhead with its wings sprawled open, ensuring that America is protected from all enemies.  In its beak, the eagle is carrying the olive branch, which is the hope and offering of peace.  The arrows and the olive leaves show how our class soared into the Academy during a time of war to learn the tools to defend freedom and bring about peace.

The geographic image of our nation lies at the very bottom of the crest demonstrating how this academy was built upon our country.  The star on the nation represents West Point, as a reminder of where we learned our values.  The two sabers, which symbolize the Officer corps, are pointed down toward the country showing how we will remain loyal as cadets and as commissioned Army officers.

In the center lies our cherished class motto "LOYAL 'TiL THE END."  This motto is the culmination of our mission and our hopes for the future, to remain loyal to protecting the liberties of all people, especially our own.  Since our nation is currently engaged in a hostile and arduous war, our class must always keep this motto in their hearts to remember our role of being devoted defenders of freedom.  It is this sentiment that will forever drive our class, the Class of 2010, onward to success in defending the liberty and security of our classmates, the American people, and all others who long to be free.  God bless our class, our sponsors, the United States Military Academy, and the United States of America.
